What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?
Chinese herbal medicine is the main modality or treatment method within Traditional Chinese Medicine (TMC). TCM is the world’s oldest, continually practiced, professional medicine. Its written history stretches back more than 2,500 years and its practice is undoubtedly much older than that. Although acupuncture was the first Chinese modality to gain wide acceptance in the West, Chinese herbal medicine is quickly establishing itself as one of the most popular and effective alternative therapies in the West. Where do your herbs come from?
At People's Herbs, we pride ourselves on setting the industry standard for quality and ethical procurement and manufacturing practices. The highest quality Chinese herbs are used in the manufacture of our formulas. The botanical identity of each ingredient is then checked by a trained Chinese medical pharmacognosist when it arrives at the factory. If necessary, TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography) is used to confirm identity.
The bulk herbs are re-inspected by the production department and a TCM pharmacist, then the herbs are washed in distilled water before being sent to a clean room for processing. The herbs are washed in purified water and then cut into small pieces and any specified processing methods are performed according to the standards of the Chinese Pharmacopeia and/or SATCM-approved pao zhi texts.
All processing from beginning to end occurs in sanitized stainless steel equipment. The herbs are extracted using water and high pressure at 75 degrees centigrade.The extract is then concentrated with a vacuum and high pressure in a centrifuge. The resulting concentrate is spray-dried and then sifted and ground into a fine even particle sized powder.
The Chinese factory that manufactures our formulas is a government-licensed and inspected facility and meets all standards of the Department of Health of the People’s Republic of China for a cGMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) facility. In addition, the factory is inspected yearly by an independent third-party auditor to ensure that they are compliant with FDA cGMP regulations.

Can I use multiple discount codes on one order?
No, at this time our system only allows for one discount per order. If you have another discount code that you would like to use, please feel free to use it with a future purchase.

I made a purchase a few days before a sale/promotion. Can the current discount/promotion be added to my recent purchase?

What is your shipping policy and rates?
All orders are processed within 1 to 3 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) after receiving your order confirmation email. At times, there may be potential delays due to the high volume of orders, holidays, or postal service problems that are outside of our control.
Our delivery options for U.S. orders are:
- FREE for orders over $35 via USPS (First Class)
- $7.99 for orders up to $34.99 via USPS (First Class)
- $9.99 flat rate for USPS (Priority)
- $19.99 flat rate for FedEx Residential (1-5 days)
- $24.99 flat rate for FedEx Express Saver (1-3 days)
Please note, free shipping on U.S. orders of $35 or more is applied after discounts. At times, we offer free shipping on all U.S. orders (see announcement bar on homepage for up-to-date information). My order is over $35, but why does free shipping no longer apply after I enter my discount code?
If your order is under $35 after you entered a discount code, free shipping no longer applies. Your order must be over $35 after discount codes have been applied in order to receive free shipping.
How do I check the status of my order?
When your order has shipped, you will receive an email notification from us which will include a tracking number you can use to check the package status. I received a notification that my order was delivered, but I don't see it at my house. What do I do?
First, check with your neighbors to see if they signed for you, as well as look in various places around your porch/doorway. Also check with your local post office and delivery driver. If the package is still nowhere to be found after 48 hours of the attempted delivery time, please email email@example.com.
Why haven't I received my order yet?
If your order is taking longer than expected to arrive, it’s likely due to USPS experiencing delivery delays. Once a package leaves our warehouse, we don’t have control over the speed of delivery, unfortunately. You will receive a tracking number to check the status of your delivery.
RETURNS & EXCHANGES
What is your return policy?
Eligible returns must be made within 30 days of the date on the invoice. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for a return authorization. We cannot accept any returns that have not received a return authorization.
Returned merchandise must be unopened, unused, and sellable condition (i.e. in original, unmarked, undamaged packaging). Return exclusions: we do not accept the return of sale items, books, skincare tools such as gua sha or jade rollers, and opened bottles of any kind.
Credit will be applied upon receipt of the merchandise to the payment method used to purchase. Please include a copy of the original invoice with any return. If you are returning an item that is part of a free gift with purchase promotion, the value of the gift included with your purchase will be deducted from your refund.

If you receive damaged items in your shipment, please contact us immediately at 800.383.8682. If a product has been damaged when received, we require a photo to be sent to us upon arrival and we may ask that you send the product back to us. Retain all packing materials as a Fedex or USPS representative may need to inspect the shipment.
